Greg Mackenzie PT
OwnerGreg Mackenzie PT
OwnerGreg was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. He was raised on a farm in the midlands of Natal, riding horses and was competitive in showjumping, cross country and Dressage. He graduated from Hilton College where he also played rugby, cricket and ran track. He then went on to study for his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Stellenbosh, near Cape Town and thereafter his Master’s of Sports Science at the University of Natal, Durban.
Greg owned and operated a Sports Medicine clinic, Kings Park Sports Medicine Centre, in South Africa for 14 years. Greg also spent many of these years as the official Physical Therapist and Trainer for the Natal Sharks Rugby team and the international Springbok Sevens Rugby team. He traveled extensively all over the world, including multiple trips to New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Paris, London, Dubai, Malaysia, Fiji and also many South American countries including Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. He brings to Xcel a wealth of orthopedic, manual and sports physical therapy experience.
After moving to the USA permanently and becoming a US citizen, he gained much experience working in various clinics and hospitals in the greater Dayton area and Indiana. Xcel Sports Medicine was established in 2006, with the core principle being the ‘hands-on’ approach to PT which defines the philosophy of the clinic. This is the fundamental basis of the clinic’s approach to the management of orthopedic, and sports injuries that constitute the bulk of the patient population at the clinic.
An avid marathon runner, Greg has run in many area races, including the New York, Columbus, Cincinnati Flying Pig, Air Force, and Boston Marathons and he has run the 56 mile Comrades in South Africa 8 times. He enjoys sharing the benefits of this sport with as many people as possible. Greg is married to Celeste, a master Pilates instructor and owner of Peak Personal Pilates. They have 2 grown children; Brett, a graduate of the University of Louisville and competitive swimmer and Sarah, an NYU graduate currently pursuing a career in the arts in New York City.

Regional DirectorKevin was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. After attending Central Michigan University for his undergraduate degree in Health Science, he attended the University of Dayton, achieving his Doctor of Physical Therapy in May 2016.
Kevin joined Xcel in June 2016, and brings a passion for both orthopedic and neurological populations. He continues to work on publishing work, utilizing screening tools to predict injury in NBA players, but is also interested in concussions and balance disorders. In his free time, Kevin enjoys running, any outdoor activities, and watching Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Red Wings, and Notre Dame Football.

Clinic Director, Physical TherapistBen Ruggles attend physical therapy school at the University of Findlay, graduating with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He completed additional curriculum in sports science as well as manual therapy interventions. Shortly after school, Ben joined the Xcel Physical Therapy team and currently practices in the Beavercreek location. With a strong passion for orthopedic management, Ben has been able to help many patients back from sport, work, and home related injuries. Ben is certified with Dry Needling and believes in the hands-on approach for physical therapy for treatment. Outside of work, he shares his time with his wife enjoying Disc Golf, hiking, fishing, and kayaking.

Physical TherapistErin is a 2005 graduate of the University of Indianapolis with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. She also earned a degree in Health Sciences from Purdue
University in 2002. Her clinical experience ranges across the spectrum in both age groups and diagnosis type.
Erin is dedicated to providing quality one on one care to all of her patients. She believes that therapy should be both beneficial and fun for her patients. She works hard alongside her patients to return them to a high functioning and pain free lifestyle.
Erin has earned certifications in the Astym®️ system, Graston Technique, and in Dry Needling. Erin’s professional interests include sports medicine physical therapy and general orthopedics.
In her free time Erin enjoys traveling, biking, hiking and spending time with friends and family.

Physical Therapist AssistantStephanie was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. After attending Wright State University for her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, she pursued her PTA degree from Edison State Community College, graduating in May 2022. Stephanie joined Xcel in July of 2023, practicing at the Beavercreek location. She enjoys treating a wide variety of patients in the outpatient setting, from orthopedic to neurological related injuries.
In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
