Anna Weni PTA
Anna Weni PTA
Anna is a 2013 graduate of Miami East High School. She completed two years at Urbana University, where she played soccer and studied Sociology. Anna then transferred to Grace College in spring of 2015 and continued in Sociology. In fall of 2015, Anna changed directions and decided to pursue becoming a PTA, which landed her at Edison State Community College in Piqua, Ohio. She graduated from the program in May of 2018 and started her career at a skilled nursing facility in Cincinnati until October of 2019, when she joined the Xcel team.
Anna resides in Troy, Ohio with her husband, Nakilee. In her spare time, she can be found taking pictures, on a bicycle, in her garden, or on a soccer pitch with Nakilee, giving back to the game.

Greg Mackenzie PT
OwnerGreg was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. He was raised on a farm in the midlands of Natal, riding horses and was competitive in showjumping, cross country and Dressage. He graduated from Hilton College where he also played rugby, cricket and ran track. He then went on to study for his Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Stellenbosh, near Cape Town and thereafter his Master’s of Sports Science at the University of Natal, Durban.
Greg owned and operated a Sports Medicine clinic, Kings Park Sports Medicine Centre, in South Africa for 14 years. Greg also spent many of these years as the official Physical Therapist and Trainer for the Natal Sharks Rugby team and the international Springbok Sevens Rugby team. He traveled extensively all over the world, including multiple trips to New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Paris, London, Dubai, Malaysia, Fiji and also many South American countries including Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. He brings to Xcel a wealth of orthopedic, manual and sports physical therapy experience.
After moving to the USA permanently and becoming a US citizen, he gained much experience working in various clinics and hospitals in the greater Dayton area and Indiana. Xcel Sports Medicine was established in 2006, with the core principle being the ‘hands-on’ approach to PT which defines the philosophy of the clinic. This is the fundamental basis of the clinic’s approach to the management of orthopedic, and sports injuries that constitute the bulk of the patient population at the clinic.
An avid marathon runner, Greg has run in many area races, including the New York, Columbus, Cincinnati Flying Pig, Air Force, and Boston Marathons and he has run the 56 mile Comrades in South Africa 8 times. He enjoys sharing the benefits of this sport with as many people as possible. Greg is married to Celeste, a master Pilates instructor and owner of Peak Personal Pilates. They have 2 grown children; Brett, a graduate of the University of Louisville and competitive swimmer and Sarah, an NYU graduate currently pursuing a career in the arts in New York City.

Senior Regional DirectorKevin was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. After attending Central Michigan University for his undergraduate degree in Health Science, he attended the University of Dayton, achieving his Doctor of Physical Therapy in May 2016.=
Kevin joined Xcel in 2016 with a passion for both orthopedic and neurological conditions. Over time he has built a love for working with amputees and runners while focusing on staff and business development programs.
In 2022 he became the Senior Regional Director, handling day to day business operations, and in 2023 became a partner at Xcel Physical Therapy.
He currently lives in Troy with his wife and family.

Physical TherapistJon was born and raised in New Lebanon, Ohio. He is a 2012 graduate of Dixie High School. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Wright State University in 2016. He then went on to earn his PTA degree from Sinclair Community College in 2020. He joined Xcel in 2017 starting as a PT-aide, then transitioned to PTA following graduation. In 2022, he decided to continue to his education and went back to school to complete his Doctorate Degree in PT to become a physical therapist. He graduated with his DPT in 2024 from Hanover College. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, pick-up basketball, hiking, traveling and other outdoor activities. He enjoys watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals.

Darren specializes in orthopedics and is most interested in treating cervicogenic headaches.
In his free time, Darren enjoys golf, working out, and basketball.

Physical TherapistScott was born and raised in Springfield. He graduated from the University of Dayton’s PT program, and before that received his Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Wright State University.
Scott has a special interest in treating athletes and active individuals of all ages, especially golfers. He holds the Titleist Performance Institute golf certification for the assessment and treatment of golfers and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
In his free time, Scott enjoys playing golf, traveling, and watching his favorite football teams – THE Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Matt grew up in Mount Vernon, Ohio (about one hour north of Columbus).
He has interests in treating numerous orthopedic conditions consisting of athletes and post-op patients, as well as treating neurological conditions.
In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and volleyball, fishing, and walking my dog. You’ll also find him on a disc golf course anytime it is warm outside.
